Computer Shutsdown when playing

Hello,
The problem that im having is occuring when i bought a new motherboard and a new CPU
Thats the system that im using :
Display: 1280x1024 (native) (Samsung )
Motherboard: ASRock 980DE3/U3S3
CPU: AMD FX-6300 3.5Mhz x6
RAM: 8GB DDR3 4x2
GPU: Nvidia GTS450 512mb
HDD: Seagate barracuda 7200rpm sata2 (its old from my first pc)
PSU:400W (some random manufacture)
OS: Windows 8.1 pro
The problem is that my PC shutsdown whenever i play games ex.:League of Legends (It crashes only when im playing at max, on lowest settings i dont have that problem),Shadow of Morder(low-medium).When it shuts down the power button doesnt turn the computer on for a couple of minutes 2-4min. Ive run some stability tests for the CPU cause i thought thats the problem but it didnt crash, also tested Ram, HDD finaly i've tried the GPU using FurMark and indeed turned off, I think the temp was around 80 C.The reason im looking for suggestions is that my gpu never have done that before, I was using the gts450 on my oldest AM2 mb,on my second AM3 and it never shut down not even once , but on the new i bought recently AM3+ it did .it shuts down in a period of ~5min of playing.So im looking for every suggestions and help.Thanks in advance

Im not that into hardware stuff, so if you could use not so many terms or atleast if you could explain them, thank you again.

Can't say for sure , But I would insist on saying no. The problem like I have said, isn't necessarily the wattage, it is more about the rails and the stability of the voltage. Then again, I am 'guessing' its the PSU and can't be sure unless I physically see a system.

Anyway, if the rest of your system is so high spec, why cheap out on the PSU which provides the essential power? I suggest getting a new psu anyway.
First, press Win key + S and type 'event'. Have a look at the event logs and see what the messages are when you pc shut down.

Otherwise, I am thinking its most likely a PSU fault by the way you describe it. A 'random manufacturer' 400W PSU like yours is probably a very poor quality unit and whenever you play games on max settings, due to the power draw and voltage needed, the PSU is not able to provide it and hence shuts down.

I strongly recommend replacing the PSU with something at least decent such as the Corsair CX430 or CX500 or even the the EVGA 500B. They are good budget oriented units. If you have a good unit from another system or a friend, you can borrow it to see if it helps before buying a new one.

 


Thanks for the suggestions, but on my old motherboard and CPU (Phenom II x2 555BE (unlocked to 3rd core ) which draws more power than my new CPU it never shut down while playing games espicially League of Legends (Also played it on max settings ), I also run FurMark on my older system it didnt shutdown the PC not even once.
i know you can get crash from CPU overheat but can you get from GPU overheat ? is it possible?
 
the FX6300 is much more demanding than the Phenom II in your old build. The rest of the components also need more power and much more stable voltages. The Phenom II doesn't draw more power than your FX.

It doesn't shut down due to overheat - it shuts down because the system doesn't receive the adequate voltages and power that it needs when gaming.

But yes, you can also overheat your GPU.
 

Thanks for the time and help you've given.I want to ask one more question.Consider if i dont change the PSU,
if i buy a new Graphics card and more in particular the gtx750ti which is about 40wats less than my current,because ill Definitely buy the gtx750ti considering its a budget GPU and not a lot of power consuming.
Will this fix the problem?
