Hello guys i have a problem, my pc shuts down when i stop playing my games and leave it idle. Its supposed to go in sleep mode but i have a hunch its due to me overclocking my cpu today to get better performance out of my newly installed gtx 1060. I also just installed a new psu 500w. My motherboard is a msi 760pg23 im wondering if maybe not enough power is getting to my cpu or motherboard now that i overclocked it and put it in high performance mode so when its idle it just shuts off after leaving it there for about 10 mins. any help greatly appreciated i really dont wanna pay this guy 50$ to take a look at it only to confirm something i already had a hunch about.

EDIT: cpu is AMD fx 6300

Chances are it is set to hibernate. It will shut down your PC when not being used after a certain amount of time. Try this:

  1. Open up the "Power Options" in control panel
  2. Choose "Change Plan Settings" for the plan that you are using.
  3. Choose "Change advanced power settings"
  4. Expand "Sleep" category
  5. Expand "Hibernate after"
  6. Click the field and select the whole number of minutes - It’s usually "180" so I selected this and deleted (it may vary)
  7. Type "Never" then hit the "Apply" button

Click "Ok" to close the window

This should fix your problem...

Im hoping its this and not something like my motherboard isnt getting enough power after awhile...it has problems starting up again after it shuts down like this and when it finally does it has a prompt show up “checking disk press any button to skip”

Have you stress tested your system? I’d recommend you run these tests for about an hour each.
CPU / RAM (Prime95) http://www.mersenne.org/download/

RAM: (Memtest86+) http://www.memtest.org/

GPU: (Furmark) http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

If you experience any issues with these then you have an unstable system, which is probably due to the voltage going to your components. You can change these in your Bios, though you should have optimized defaults that you can try.
