So my computer all of a sudden became really slow and laggy. It's so bad I can't even watch Youtube videos without them lagging even if fully buffered. I have a new home built gaming pc. Tried virus removal, Ccleaner, defrag, cleanup and everything else. 6-core AMD with 8g ram and over 100gbs free on HDD.

HELP! I work at a IT computer company so it's really frustrating!

Well first thing to understand is an administrator has elevated rights and permissions. With that review what services are running as an administrator versus a guest. A comparison is the first objective, understanding the need of those services and what role they play is next. You will no doubt find one or two services using excessive resources. I did not notice what OS you running, if WIN7 use resource monitor to drill down to the culprit that is hogging your system.

Stupid question, but you can't see how much memory a service is using. How do I do that?

Actually if you are using performance monitor it is quite easy. You will notice while viewing the overview panel the CPU section lists all process and files in use by the system the are referred to as image and PID. click the square box next to the image you want to view and you will see the detail filtered showing only the disk, network, and memory for that selection. You can also click on the top of each column to sort in ascending or descending order
