Hello i have been having an extremely anoying problem with my PC where every single time i start up a game their will be this Faint Crackling and popping sound, that is sometimes loud and sometimes not so loud. i have tried everything from updateing my windows, updateing my video drivers, uninstalling my audio device and reinstalling, uninstalling and reinstalling audio drivers. Getting a new power surge protector. Everything and the audio still pops and crackles, it does not make the audio horrible the audio comes in really nice, but their will be this popping and crackling sound every once and a while that is driving me Nuts. and i have no idea what to do. and before anybody brings it up, i do not want to get a Sound card or use a USB to 3.5 adapter because them adapters make the sound really crappy. please help, this PC is not even a year old. the speakers i use are brand new, i got new speakers because i thought it would fix the sound but it did not. the crackling and poping also comes though both sound ports on the computer, the front and the back.

Solution
If trying another headset / speaker set does not solve this (due to dodgy cables):
cannot help you

pops and crackles are most likely from a static build up (em interference) inside your mobo sound port / a damaged port / a usb 3 port not auto-detecting a usb 2 device and so not dropping the voltage (and/or other things).

your unwillingness to add a sound controller (which would eliminate the em interference) yet hate crappy sound from an adapter = only option left is to replace your front panel and hope it is that which is causing it.

if youre speakers are self powered (they have their own power supply cable to wall), you might want to check the wiring.

Solution
unplug PC from the power outlet before proceed open the case and tight all motherboard screws to the case.once i have same problem it was bad ground mobo and case. reconnect audio extension cables from the motherboard to the case and make no power cables crossing them.:)
