Computer static problem

Lately my headset mic has been giving loads of static and also my brand new keyboard randomly started being faulty and I think its down to static. When I listen to my mic on my headset it makes weird like static noises but if I touch something metal like the I/O shield it stops completely. So is there static buildup? My computer is on my wooden desk.

I think it might be down to the wire actually, when i move it around the noise happens, but that could just be coincidence?

I think you have a grounding problem. Try putting your computer on a rubber mat.
