Computer stopped booting. Black screen with red bar.

My computer stopped working the other day. I wasn't doing anything unusual, just playing FTL, which is not a system stress at all. When it stopped the screen froze and my audio became a weird whining noise. Now when I try to boot my computer I get no bios splash screen and after a few seconds I get a black screen with a thick bar of thin red stripes going down it. One time I saw the windows logo like it was loading but it still had the bar and didn't get to a login screen, just ended up black again. If i try to get into bios I just get a black screen with no bar. Any thoughts on what the most likely problem is? I don't have on board video so i haven't been able to test that.

did you recently updated you gpu driver..if yes go back to the old one
also remove the card and clean it then reseat

I updated a few days ago, but how would I go back to an old driver when windows won't boot? And I've already cleaned and reseated the card.
