computer turn on problems

i recently built a computer and when i power it on everything turns on and all fans spin but when i turn the monitor on it says no signal for a second then goes black, whats the problem.

Do you have a gpu? And is your monitor plugged into the gpu? Can you list your specs? You've given us very little to go on lol
