Question COMPUTER TURNING OFF

Hello,

im having an issue with my pc i have recently swapped out the CPU and RAM for new ones and ever since ive done this the computer will turn off when i open a game, if i only have discord and my web browser open it runs fine but the second i open up a game it just shuts off. and i did update the BIOS just incase and tried it with the old ram and it still happens.

Do you have plenty of free space on your hard drive?
Can you open maybe 5 or 6 different software apps of larger size (** but no games) and keep them running, switching between them and see if it crashes?

Is any hardware overclocked?
Are you running a speed profile in the bios on the ram?

EVGA GA has tripping issues with RTX 3080. You need a new PSU. Best look for ATX3.1 and 750w at least. Get one from the top 20 in de Relative Performance chart.

@--SID-- Was just thinking possible psu wattage problem, it would have to be related to cpu upgrade though, as it worked fine previously.

GPU usage is higher with a faster CPU. Higher GPU usage = higher power draw. CPU consumes more too.

750w/850w. Recommendation depends on availability. What country and/or webshop?

I would say also the 5900x can run pretty warm so it could also be you need a new cpu cooler as well. But definitely look into the power supply. If you upgraded the cpu, the stronger cpu will let your 3080 start to stretch it’s legs and so you’ve got a better cpu that is running hotter and faster and the 3080 running faster and drawing more power as well.

As far as power supply the person above suggested at least 750. I would say 850-1000 wouldn’t be a bad move if it’s not much more.

This ended up being the issue got a new psu and now it runs like a dream ty!
