Hey peeps,
This is going to be complex but I'm going to ask you if I'm right 😉

So, I'm currently using a build with 2x AMD Radeon 280x on Crossfire. I mostly use one for now because I can handle almost any game on Ultra with one but I tend to use both in demanding games. I've been using them together for about 6 months without issues however recently I'm having a bit of an issue.

Every now and then when I use Crossfire, I started getting my game suddenly turn off, and the computer tells me its going to Shut Down as if I hit the power button. When I went into power options and removed the option that the computer shuts down as you hit the Power button, the problem occurred less often but when it occurred, the computer just does Force Shutdown.

At first you might think that its a problem of overheating (mind you it could and that's why I'm asking). However, I'm thinking of another problem which might be occuring. First of all, I'm using a Cosmos S Case (those that have a touch sensitive power button) and a 1000W 4 year old power supply. I had a quite similar problem when my 1st power supply was defective and considering this 2nd one is now old as well, I'm thinking of the same problem. The problem now started as soon as I installed these two graphic cards so I'm guessing that the power supply can't handle them since its old. The temperatures that they get when on Crossfire is about 80 - 90 degrees - which are quite high but I heard that people had graphics cards that went up to that temperature but never had shutdowns due to overheating.

What do you think pls? Thank you!!

P.S. An important point (I think) which I forgot to point out is that when such an episode occurs, the power button remain partially lit and pressing it won't get the PC turned on again. I would have to power off the computer from both UPS and main switch and turn everything back on - hope this helps 😉

your psu is poor quality and will need a new one

So do you think I should go for a new PSU? As a temporary option, if I detach the case power switch from the case and use the motherboard's power switch to turn on the PC, do you think it would work?

no just buy a new psu i would recommend this http://pcpartpicker.com/part/xfx-power-supply-p1750bbefx
