Im a Newbie. I dunno much about computer. My computer Gateway GT5428 turns on BUT my monitor says No Signal. The Fan is turning and the power switch is lighted blue. This the specs for my computer : http://www.manualowl.com/m/Gateway%20Computers/GT5428/Manual/148799?page=2
I fixed everything as shown, the comp turns on HOWEVER, the monitor is Acer and it kept saying No Signal and goes to sleep. I TRIED fixing the monitor to another HP 5822 PC and the Acer monitor works fine. What went wrong eh??PLEASE ADVICE.

Do you hear any beep codes when the computer starts up? If not, your PC may not even be POSTing. The issue may not be with your monitor. If you have another monitor (or even most newer TVs would work), connect that to test the video output.

beep codes??? what is that?? all I know is my comp power on, and the monitor came on for less than 1 minute and say NO SIGNAL... I tried my HP PC with my Acer monitor, it works fine. I TRIED my GATEWAY PC with HP monitor it works fine. SADLY the Acer monitor will not works with my Gateway PC.. WHY so funny,eh?? Grrrrrrrrrrr... So frustrating and stressful. More Advice please... Thank you.(TQ)... GOD Bless.

I had a costumer yesterday, which Monitor also went to sleep and said "No Signal", the reason was that she had VGA cable AND a DVI cable in the monitor, and when you don't use more than one monitor, you should only have one input cable in.

You have a monitor that works on one PC but not the other, but a monitor that works on both PCs? Simple, swap monitors between the computers.

Or make sure you have the cables in properly and the right input selected. If the computer has two video outputs, try them both (not at the same time ofcourse).

Firstly thanks for taking time to answer or help advice me, Zmokamok. I really dunno what are all these VGA cable AND a DVI cable. Sad and sorry for myself been too dumb on this computer matter. Guess, all I'll TRY to swap the monitor which works for old Gateway PC. Thanks much. Heartfelt. GOD Bless.

And to hang-the-9 : Thanks much. Heartfelt. That was exactly what I was intending to do. HOWEVER, sadly, although the monitor works BUT^ the internet connection just dont seems to be connecting fine?? Could there be any issues regarding the internet connection cables which or where I could resolve this issue, eh?? Any further idea?? Heartfelt. GOD Bless. - Winny

Well, I think I'm gonna closed the case. SAD I dunno HOW-TO it lol... As simple as I am. I just plainly needed advise. Thanks for all helps rendered. I cant see no where, any Like or Thank-you icon... Anyway, although it is YET resolved. Somehow, I just felt like closing the case and treated it as SOLVED. Someone please help me closed the case. Thank-you(TQ). I'll come back for more advice when I can't manage it again, when I find more time. GOD Bless.

VGA Cable is the blue cable you put from your computer to your monitor, DVI is a white cable you put from your computer to your monitor :)
Hope it helped, else you can try google the names, and you can see pictures :)

So damn upsetting. Just as I swap them around. ONLY, just the old Gateway PC and the new monitor, SADLY, my new HP monitor also be telling me NO SIGNAL this time around. WHAT did I do wrong,eh?? TWO days I tried it, and it works fine. WHY is it that when I decided to use it now? IT just messes on me, eh?? NOW, I daren't even dare mess with it no more. I quickly refix back my new HP PC with my new HP monitor and Thanks GOD it works. Blessings to myself that this new set is working fine... Booooo to myself for not being able to get my old Gateway PC to work with the used Acer monitor. STILL trying to slowly configure over what exactly went wrong?? Could there be possibility that my old PC is messed up?? I know very sure, it does work when I first plugs it in to my newly bought HP monitor. Just dunno WHY it no longer works now?? AND how would I know if it is the internet cable's problem when the monitor doesnt even start up and be saying NO signal, eh?? Any further advice is much appreciated. Thanks much. Heartfelt. GOD Bless.

Yep, guess just my tough luck. Might need to send it to the geek squad... brrrrrrrrrrr... but must be on my off day on next Tuesday. IF I cant find time, then I just have to hang on to it till then... grrrrrrrin, grin. TQ 4 al advice rendered. Blessings.

Don't send it to a shop to be looked at or fixed, if the PC is dead you will be charged cost of a new one to get it fixed, especially if it needs a new motherboard. You must have someone you know that works with computers, ask them to look at it.

If the PC is dead, buy a $300 new box and just move your files over from the old hard drive.

Thanks for advice. Heartfelt. I'm leaving it alone UNTIL I get more time to figure it out, LOL... GBUAYFA=GOD BLESS U AND YOUR FAMILY ALWAYS.

Blessings. - Winny
