For whatever reason after this last Auto update of windows 10 my computer is unusable. It freezes up, the pop-up for when it asks for administrator permissions doesn't show up, the screen just dims and the pop-up never shows so I'm unable to make any changes. System restores fail. So I'm down to basically wiping my hard drive. I still have the cd for Windows 8.1 but when I put that into my cd-rw drive it asks for administrator permission of coarse. I have gone into my bios and set it to boot off of the cd rom first but it doesn't do that it just loads up normally like every other time. At this point I don't care about losing what's on my hard drive. Most of it is backed up to my external hard drive anyways. And of coarse none of the windows scans show anything is wrong. When I hit ctrl, alt, delete all I get is a blank screen. So I'm unable to do anything from there. If I open my control panel and right click my hard drive it shows the option to format it. But when I try to do so it comes up with a message saying you cannot format this volume it contains your version of Windows and could cause your computer to stop working. So this is very frustrating. I'm at a loss of what to do. Do I need to scrap the hard drive and buy a new one? Is there a way to completely clean the hard drive from bios? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Rick.
