Hi I'm pulling hairs trying to solve why my desktop computer is using 32Watts of power even when turned off and with Wake up on LAN disabled in BIOS.
hardware:
mainboard MSI Z77-GD65 (does the rest matter?)
Here's what i've found so far:
computer state.....power usage.....WOL setting bios.....WOL works?
OFF........................32W.................ON...........................yes
OFF........................32W.................OFF.........................no
on-idle....................60W.................ON
suspend.................32W.................ON...........................yes
hibernate-doesn't work, turns on imidiately (monitor blinks off then on, systems stays on)
suspend................32W.................bios ON, OS off...........yes
I'm trying to get my system to a normal power off power consumption of I think it should be 1 Watt or so.
Above settings have been tried by turning WOL setting off in bios.
I'm using Linux and have tried turning the WOL setting of with ethtool -s eth0 wol d, which disables it, but I'm not sure if it's only in the current session, in software or hardware.
Any other suggestions?
