Hey there everyone,

So, I have had this Windows 8 ASUS computer for about a year now, never had any big problems with it. Recently, I was on Steam, I started dark souls, it started normally, then all of a sudden, the screen turned teal-ish and the speakers were making a screeching noise. The computer then crashed.

Now, when it starts, the computer displays the ASUS screen (where you can press f8 to go to BIOS). When I don't press f8, it brings me to the BIOS screen anyways, it will not start Windows up at all.

Not really sure what to do, searched Google high and low, and it seems no one else has had this problem, please help xD

When in the BIOS do you see any boot devices (in particular, the hard drive with Windows on it)?

You could run memtest to check if the memory is all right: http://www.memtest86.com/ (although, I'd go with guessing it's a hard drive issue over memory issue if everything is still booting to BIOS correctly) and there are probably bootable utilities for checking the hard drive to make sure it's okay as well.

So the first thing you may wanna do is go to your security options and see if secure boot is enabled. If so disable it, then go to the boot tab and enable PXE OpROM and you should be able to boot. Not sure if it will work but that worked for me.

You can turn off the system disconnected the external pheripherals disconnected the power supply toggle the power switch on the back of the system done power drain and restarted the system in safe mode with networking open up Msconfig System configuration and hide all Microsoft services and disable all unwanted services and startup items restarted the system in normal mode and check.

I attempted the solution suggested to enable launch pxm or something like that (sorry I'm clueless at teck) and it took me to the reboot page.

Can anyone pls tell me what to do next? The msg on screen is - reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected root device and press a key.

I pressed enter and continue to see the msg. Pls help and thx in advance. BTW, I have an asus q502l. I bought it refurbished from Newegg in June 2015 and the Apatio utility screen (Bios) appeared on Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
