So, I just bought all pieces to build a new PC except my graphics card and HDD/SSDs because I wanted to keep em. I have built everything correctly (as far as I know) and when I went to go see if it will post, it does not. PSU is running, CPU cooler + fans are working, front fans are running, optical drive works, GPU is running. Here is a list of my components for anyone who is willing to help:

CPU cooler - Corsair Hydro Series H115i Extreme Performance Liquid CPU Cooler. 280mm CW-9060027-WW

CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151 91W BX80662I76700K Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 530

PSU - CORSAIR RMx RM550X 550W ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Full Modular Active PFC Power Supply

Graphics Card - NVIDIA GTX 980

Mobo - MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X LGA 1151 Intel Z170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard

Case - Fractal Design Define R5 White with Window ATX Midtower Silent PC Computer Case

RAM - CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3000 (PC4 24000) Memory Kit Model CMK16GX4M2B3000C15

Optical Drive - LG 12X Blu-ray Disc Drive M-DISCTM Support Model UH12NS30

If anyone is able to help, please do. I really want this PC up and running if possible. Thanks.

Solution

I was able to determine what the problem was after you asked me which light was on. There was a single cable that was unplugged for some reason (CPU power connector), so that is all good now. Thanks a lot :)

I am using an HDMI cable, and I just tried connecting it to the motherboard only and still no post. Will unplugging the graphics card make a difference? If so, I'll do it again.

I have done so, I left a single RAM module installed and I tested each RAM slot and still no post.

Only activity in the PC is my my power button is red and GPU has a white light near the power connectors (8 pin and 6 pin) Any advice?

Since I attempted to start without those plugged in, should I have to reset motherboard somehow?

No, It shouldn't matter. Try leaving only CPU, CPU fan and single RAM installed and posting a picture of the board. Make sure also that you've properly connected the power button to the board and standoffs between case and motherboard in the correct positions.

At some point, I might not answer today... New Year approaching.

Happy New Year!
