So just like the title states, my computer won't power on unless I unplug it. I already tried a different surge protector and a new CMOS battery. I am suspecting the PSU which is a pretty good Seasonic X650. Any other possible culprits? BTW, this computer was built over a year ago with no issues until today. I also opened up the computer and found no possible causes for shorting out as I thought this may have been the case.

Well , power issues the PSU is the number 1 suspect. Borrow or buy another one. Also try once to unplug the PSU and press the power button several times to discharge the motherboard. Motherboard can be faulty as well...
Adding specs :

i7 4790k
Asus Z97 Pro Gamer
Corsair 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 Ram
Asus R9 290
Seasonic X650 power supply
Samsung 250GB SSD
WD Black 1TB HDD
WD Black 3TB HDD
DVD-RW Optical Drive
Sound Blaster Z
Corsair H80i
2 cooling fans
Ducky Shine 5
Corsair M95 mouse

Thanks! Will try and report back.

So still waiting on a new power supply, should be coming in tomorrow but in the meantime I have experienced this issue a couple of times yesterday and there is now a message displaying upon start up asus anti-surge was triggered to protect system from unstable power supply unit. This message has displayed on roughly half of the unexpected power losses. I have read contradicting suggestions on various forums regarding Asus' anti surge detection. Would this strongly suggest the PSU is at fault?

Well, I installed a new EVGA Supernova 650 G2 a couple of hours ago. I will make sure to update in a few days. I hate that multiple threads had the OP not updating on the resolution on similar issues to mine. Thanks for your help!

Just an update but no issues in the last 24 hours and have had the computer on the majority of the time. Keeping my fingers crossed that this resolved the issue. Will update one last time if the computer remains trouble free in a couple of days.

Thanks

Yeah, I didn't want to consider the power supply at first being that it is only a year old Seasonic but all signs pointed to it. My old Corsair TX650 from my last build is still going strong almost 7 years later. Hopefully I can RMA the Seasonic but not being optimistic as the issue was intermittent.
