I believe that is the display telling you that it isn't getting any signal from the card.

Try manually defaulting the mobo CMOS, usually by shorting pins on the mobo, check your manual for directions.

I hate to say this, but you may need to try the other mobo. It probably wasn't booting due to a short, but it didn't get fireworks so it may be ok. The other option is to take the components down to the local PC shop and have them test them all, assuming that they don't want an arm and a leg to do it.

But what would make the other mobo suddenly work now? I had tested that one on cardboard as well but it wouldn't even show a light.

It probably won't have any effect, but it's worth a try. What it does is default the BIOS. There are two header pins that when shorted with a paper clip default the BIOS. Do you have the manual handy, to look for the drawing that shows you where the pins are, and gives you the exact procedure?

Nope did nothing...Do you want me to take a picture of my board and see if you can see any connections I'm missing even though I'm almost positive there aren't.

Well assuming the CPU fan is plugged into the CPU fan header than it's good. There really isn't much to it. The problem that you had was with mounting the mobo in the case. I don't know where to go from here, it appears that you have damaged components, or possibly a bad PSU, but I doubt that.

Do you think it's the mobo over the pSU? Could it be the GPU as well?

I can return this mobo right now without them even noticing that i opened it because there was no plastic and I didn't use any of the accessories that came with it....

That way I can get the gigabyte again and save some cash.

I can't suggest that you return a potentially damaged mobo as new. I would suggest picking up a case that is better than the one you have though.

I would guess the mobo over the PSU due to the shorting problems. PSUs do go bad, but that is a good one and PSUs aren't as delicate as mobos when you are talking about shorts.

Problem was the motherboard. Switched it out and now I can get display =).

No red lights on 4870 anymore :)

BUT...problems aren't over yet...Now my computer can't detect my hard drive....Coming back to when it was first installing it turned off so it corrupted the hard drive... These problems will never end!

Anyways, what else can you do other then changing the boot options to booting the hard disk first instead of CD-DVD rom?

Computer works. Took out a stick a ram so only using 2GB now and windows boots and now I'm playing!

I nearly cried when it started working...2 weeks of non-stop work on this thing...I LEARNED SO MUCH from everyone here and thanks so much for all your help! I'm sure I'll be back soon with some problems but until then...Take care all

Thanks again! =)
