Thanks everyone this was all a joke just so i could see if toms hardware was just another tech site of 12 year old kids thinking they know how to put in a disk drive.
I don't know, but clean it really well with 95% isopropyl and q-tips. The cpu pins are going to be really hard to clean. Good luck, most of the thermal paste has grounded aluminum in it and can cause shorts. Just clean it up real good and RMA as a last resort.

You are not supposed to put it on the pins of the CPU. That may have permanently damaged both your CPU and motherboard. If possible Clean it all off then reapply it to the top plate of the CPU. Also, in case I am just misinterpreting you, make sure all connections are properly connected and that the switch on your PSU is flipped with the | down.

Yes I wouldn't trust most of what you read on 4chan, it is frequently regarded as one of the cesspools of the internet. Still though, try to clean it and if it comes down to it have it RMA'd. Although why did your father look on 4chan for computing advice if he works somewhere that deals with computers or atleast certain components for computers.

Kinda figured when you implied your dad worked at a computer shop but still looked for instructions on how to build a computer.
