Hello, everyone.
Two weeks ago, my computer would struggle to turn on. When this started occurring, I was pressing the power button on my Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD5H motherboard. This would eventually get the computer going. Then one day, it turned on, but it was on a blue screen that indicated the BIOS was corrupted and it was using the backup bios. Once it completed this, the comp shut down.
Since I don't have a beeper in my build, I don't know what error beeps it would be giving. Anyway, I was able to get the computer to turn on one last time, and I saved the BIOS settings to optimal. After I shut down the comp, I tried to turn it back on, just to test and see if it worked. Sadly, it didn't. The LED light on the mobo turns on with power, but my guess is that the BIOS is messed up because it just doesn't start anymore.
I, therefore, am wondering what else can I do to make sure it's the mobo and nothing else? I usually don't do this, but if I don't get an answer, I will have to take this in to a computer repair shop.
Methods I have tried but with no success:
Clearing CMOS by removing battery.
Using a screw driver to turn on the comp without the power wire plugged in.
Removing my RAM sticks and leaving one installed, testing every slot with them. I have 4 8GB corsair vengeance sticks.
Holding down the power button for 15-30 sec.
Holding both power and reset buttons for 15-30 sec with machine off and turning it back on.
Added new heatsink paste to CPU.
Used a paper clip to test the PSU. Everything turns on fine when I did this.
Made sure all wires were securely connected to PSU.
Used a different power cord for PSU.
Used a different outlet.
Flipped the switch on the mobo to start with the backup BIOS.
I even went on EBay and purchased a used mobo of the same model, but computer still doesn't turn on.
All of this is making me think my mobo is done. I've had it for 3 years and have not even done much, if any, overclocking on it.
