Hello,

I have an older computer that has not been in use for a few years. It worked before it was stored away. The computer seems to turn on normally, and I can hear the Windows start up sound. The strange thing is that there is absolutely nothing displayed, not even any kind of 'No Video' signal. I'm connected through VGA and have tried with a couple of cables and monitors. Does someone have experience with such a problem?

Make and model? Do you know what OS is installed? There may be a sticker on the computer.

Are you able to figure what hardware is installed? The computer's specs?

If you are comfortable opening the case, do so and take inventory. Motherboard make and model, disk drive make and model, GPU, RAM, optical drive, etc..

Look on the computer for a model number or serial number. Go to the manufacturer's website and enter any such numbers.

There may be some record of the computer's hardware configuration - and likely some note that the computer is no longer under warranty.....

Start by installing a new CMOS battery?

Are you able to get into BIOS?

Try booting into Safe Mode
