Hi,

I'm trying to configure the Comtrend PLC ( PG-9182PT x 2 ) from the browser, to find the best trade-off between Heat / Speed and Reliability ( they get very hot ).
(we don't have a "ground" wire, only 2 wires)

The "G.hn profile" offers the following choices

  • "PLC 100MHz",
  • "PLC 50MHz",
  • "PLC 100 MHz with MIMO",
  • "PLC 50MHz with MIMO",
  • "PLC 50MHz MIMO_BOOST",
  • "PLC 100MHz BOOST"
Does anyone have any idea of the meaning of "MIMO"?

(This is probably the worst manual / configuration tool of any device made so far)

Thanks

Solution
I never looked at how they actually do mimo on powerline. I don't think powerline uses more than 2x2 so it would only need 2 leads. The new stuff definitely works better over 3 wires but I am not sure if that is mimo or something else.
50 MHz is decently less hot than 100 MHz.

I thought MIMO only works when the 2 devices are grounded? (3 wires)

I tried 50 MHz without MIMO and the speed seems to be a bit less (maybe ~10%, not sure it's even relevant) compared to 100 MHz MIMO.
