[SOLVED] Concerned about temps on Ryzen 5 2600X

Ran Prime95 test on R5 2600X with Coolermaster LC120E and temps sat around 65 for about 10 minutes then they went up to 75-77 within 15 minutes and I was wondering if that’s normal ? or should I be worried

Is the prime 95 the newer version and did you disable the AVX'S

Yes it was the newest version of Prime95 and I don’t think I disabled it , I just ran the program when I launched it so whatever the default settings were

Look down towards the bottom right tic that avx and the other will the be opened up for you to tic it also the rerun.

After about 10 minutes max temp is 81

Temps started to drop to about 68 randomly still at 100% load

What software are you using to monitor temps?

default Prime95 does not have 'small FFTs' enabled....

Temps would be higher yet with small FFTs...

CPU-Z/bench/stress CPU is more than enough CPU load to approximate any game played by most folks...

If you want pure torture testing for whatever reasons, go P95/small FFT

Another 1 is Hwinfo64.

Select at top small fft's and disable avx's again.
See how it does.
If you have control over your pump and fan speeds turn them up and see what the maxes out at.

They’re about .5 degrees off from each other but with the small test I ran it’s at about 75 degrees now

That's normal as the boost algorithm will pull back frequency when it's getting hot. Load will remain at 100% though.

I think you will be fine.
Depending on how the cooler is for control you can set a custom fan curve for gaming or for heavy use.
But other wise I think you will be good to go.

Prime95 is about the hottest and most stressful program that works all cores and threads to the max. If you're only getting occasional peaks into the 80's running that you should be fine while gaming which works one core only very heavily.
