first my specs:
intel pentium 3258 @ 3.2 (non overclocked)
rx 550 gpu
h81m e33 motherboard
8gb 1600 ghz ram
1tb hard drive
and before you ask why i didnt overclock the cpu when i couldve; lets just say some parts of my pc are not working correctly but are working to where i can use it to play games. and by some parts i mean my motherboard.

now the question. im going to do a huge upgrade from my pentium to an i5 8600k but i am not within the budget to buy a new gpu. and as you may or may not know the rx 550 is a budget gpu under performing an older card known as the rx 460. will there be a huge bottleneck to where i will not be able to play video games or will i be fine.

Solution
You could just get an i5 4670(k) which works with your motherboard. Not worth getting an 8600k. If you overclcok it get a Cooler Master tx3 or the better Be Quiet Pure Rock Slim cooler.

Your 550 isn't a bad card. New games won't use DirectX11. They'll use 12 or Vulkan.
For those with an AMD graphics card there is another benefit of 12 and Vulkan which gives an increase up to 40%
