While downloading some updates from the microsoft site my
comuter crashed with the dreaded BSoD. Since then the
configuration appears to have changed. Some programs (eg
outlook express) are unable to start, and I get an error
message stating the applications configuration is
incorrect. Also, the start toolbar is blank, as is the
start menu. Quite a few other minor problems.

Is there any way to fix this without wiping the hard
drive and starting again from scratch.

Thanks

Sue, try a Repair Install first. Check here for more info
