About those high resotion movies. Well, It may just be me, but that resolution won't work on my display (I have Iiyama 904UT) and 1600x1200 is highest I can get. People with standard ( 19 or 17" screen) won't be able to run it too. So I don't care if my gfx card will be able to run them or not

. I just won't be watching them on comp (and I just never watch dvd movies here.. I prefer my 21" crt tv).
Now for the rest of goodies. The Shaders 3.0 were anounced to be "revolutioN" and I really don't see much difference between 2.0 and 3.0. (And what I'm really worried is that game makers concentrate only on gfx goodies, forgetting about playability, but that's other topic).
So I'd get a decent card anyho. After all, if you will use the approach "I'll wait with upgrade cuz current cards won't run future games" you will just be sticked to your current system for ages

And, taking that you have about year, till Vista becomes user friendly, and fist SP is launched

, you will need to change gfx anyway
So...get 1900xt, or 7900gt, and have fun, waiting for DX10
