Question Confused about psu cables for 3x8 pin models

So i have 3 pci cables , each split at the end into 2x8 pin
from what i read every connector from the psu to gpu need to be from a separate cable , so will it work if i use 3 cables that split at the end and just leave the extra 8 pin unplugged?

Make and model of the PSU you're dealing with? A picture would help us two fold since most newcomers misinterpret the cables/connectors of components and are often left with expensive paperweights. What are the rest of your specs?
