I've seen that video before, and couldn't last 3 seconds before stopping it this time around. There is something terribly uncomfortable about watching an over the top sales pitch.

Oh, and did this guy ever have hair?

I remember starting out on Windows 3.1 with a IBM running at 12MHz, Intro to PC's 101 for me. It wasnt very pleasing on the eye compaired with what were using today :) and there wasn't much a young kid could do on a PC back then: Paint and a paly few games, mess around with Q-basic.

He has not changed a bit LOL !

Moving to only-windows interfaces was disadvantageous to developers and researchers. Linux has struck a better balance of shell vs windows UI. Win7 was supposed to have come back to a stronger scripting BAT UI, but I never was interested enough to find it. With bash, on the other hand, you can do anything... I mean anything from the script, you can feel the POWER !

The coolest thing I've done is turning off the LCD screen on the laptop, which is not possible in windows

xset dpms force off

Another cool example is changing the names of thousands of picture so that they are enumerated in order... 1, 2, 3.

MS took a lot of power away when they stop supporting shells. May that was the plan all along !

I'm still amazed that Windows is older than I am. Technology has become so advanced in such a short amount of time.

Still remember playing the "Gorilla game"(don't remember it's true name) on a DOS computer back in the 90's, that was the most amazing game at to me at the time. 😛

So many 25th anniversarys. Mario, Back to the Future and now Windows. It seems like 1985 was the year people got things done. I was even born in 1985!

As was the Xerox Star way ahead of Macintosh at the time, so what's your point?

It did have a better GUI but the original Macintosh (or 128K) was crippled (lack of memory as the GUI used about half of the memory) and the Macintosh 512K (with vastly more memory) was nearly $3,000 USD.In the first year (1984) the Macintosh didn't have any 3rd party software either so most people considered it an expensive toy. $3,000 USD was a LOT of money back then for a microcomputer. An Amiga would be a far better choice back then in 1985 as it had color, stereo sound and was a lot less expensive than any Mac.
Window's really didn't catch on (and it's easy to see why after using early versions) until Windows 3.1 (although 3.0 was all right too).
