I hope to help a lot of people with this. Yes you can send audio to the tv with 4 series nvidia gpu and latest drivers.

after you get the adapter/cable go to Nvidia control Panel.
-Set up digital audio
-then make sure your tv is available trough the dvi.

-Then go to Control Panel and select the TV audio port as a default.

Yes and with the lastest Nvidia drivers will also carries sound.
Also you can buy an DVI - HDMI Adapter on ebay or local store.

Thanks for the response but you mean that with the lastest drivers, dvi cable will have sound also?

Yes, im using an DVI Cable on my TV with enabled sound.

So i should buy a dvi to hdmi cable, connect dvi to gpu and hdmi to hdtv. And i will be ok? because i read on other forums that dvi carries ONLY video.

Note.GTX 470 dvi ports are dual link

I'm pretty sure the DVI ports on the card do not output audio, the older Nvidia cards didn't output audio on the HDMI port unless an internal SPIDF cable was connected.

Its possible. Im using it!

Others people are using it

you should try it.

Buy me a HDMI monitor then and I will!

But yea, I would listen to mousemonkey and me on this one and say that your GPU does not support DVI audio and you will need to find another way to get sound which isn't hard at all.

But you won't see a difference in quality going from HDMI to DVI besides the difference between the 2 screens themselves.
