connect amplifier to pc

I would like to connect my old amplifier and conected record deck, cassette player, etc to my computer. The problem is that the amplifier is positioned a long way from the computer, although not that far from an Ethernet hub.
Will it work if I convert the RCA connections from the amplifier to a RJ45 connection to the hub. Then from the hub to a USB connection to the computer. Or do I have to connect to an audio connection on the computer?

You have to connect the computer directly to the amplifier. Your amplifier is analogue, the Ethernet hub is digital. Even if it was digital audio it still wouldn't work as the Ethernet hub and digital audio talk in different languages.
