Connect DVI on 1 GPU or split the ports to 2? Dual monitors.

Just in case I'm not seeing something here, I have two GPUs, both of which have single and dual DVI links on both IOs. One of my monitors is 60hz and the other is 144hz.

At the moment I'm connecting both on my main graphics card and it works fine, but is there an advantage if I split it with the other one?

I don't think you will get any benefit. all monitors should be connected to the main card. BTW what are your specs?

GPU model numbers? Is this a crossfire or SLI configuration or just two independently operating GPUs?

GTX 660ti, and SLI. I could set them to work independently if I wanted to however.

It depends on what you're doing. For gaming, there isn't much benefit of doing that, UNLESS, you use one GPU independently for your desktop and the other one for your game monitor. SLI is just better all the way around though and you need to have both monitors connected to the primary card, although I've been told by several other members that they've had success using connections on both cards with SLI configured and that it depends on the card.

It can't hurt to try it, if you really need to, and no, there is really no advantage as it relates to your refresh rates unless both cards have only a single dual link DVI port, in which case it might be advantageous to use the DVI port on each card that is dual link, if it works with your card.

And GTX 660ti isn't the model number, it's just the product family. There should be a specific model number that identifies the particular model of card. Most companies make several different model numbers within each family and they can have major differences.

GV-N66TOC-2GD is that the model number you were looking for? But I think I heard the answer was no, no advantage?

You'll just have to try it. I've heard it go both ways. Some guys say they've had success using the dual link dvi outputs on BOTH cards, others say you can't. I think it's just a matter of the generation of card and whether it's an AMD or Nvidia based card. I know with AMD cards, you only have two digital outputs before you need to use displayport for the third monitor but I don't think it applies to Nvidia cards in the same way, or at least not newer ones. It can't hurt to try it. You can certainly do it if you just have dual cards, not in SLI, but in SLI you'll just have to try it and see.

So far I've never had problems with my setup right that. That being both connectors my on Asus card. I guess trial and error is the way to go. I probably won't try anything, though cause you know.,don't fix what isn't broken.
