Connected laptop to HDTV with HDMI but tv says no signal

I have connected my acer laptop to a GPX brand HDTV, but when I go to Source > HDMI on the TV it says no signal. I'm really not quite sure where to go from this point. I even tried checking the other sources but there was nothing. Note: This TV only has one HDMI port.

You might have a function key, but other than that you need to go into display properties.

Right click the desktop, and hit properties.

If you have something like Catalyst installed, you may have other choices.

Unfortunately neither of those have worked.

I had to press the input button on mine a few times to cycle to the correct setting.
