Hi!

I'm having problems with connecting this front panel cable to my new motherboard.

My PC is Lenovo Erazer X310, and the new mobo is MSI MAG Z390M MORTAR.

Do I need an adapter of some sort? I've heard that pre-built PC case's front panel connectors are often very different from the usual.

Solution
Ok, so you're going to need a new case. Here an atx mid tower case. This is the largest, with a larger price, but offers more expansion options and good build quality. This will fit ITX, Matx, and ATX mobos, so it can fit nearly any motherboard and video card.

Is that for the power button and reset button, or is that for something else? Your original mobo should have a standardized front panel layout, so i would guess this is for something else like audio.
If this is for something else, try to find the label on where it plugged into the original motherboard and see what it says. This pdf may help you identify it. http://content.etilize.com/User-Manual/1031985287.pdf

Thanks for the response. I was actually going to build one from scratch, but I got this for Christmas, so I couldn't refuse. I guess I'm better off buying a new case then. What's the quality like on, let's say 30-40€ cases?

It is the power switch cable. The pins on the old mobo have the exact layout as the cable itself.

There are a lot of low-quality cheap cases for that price, but some reputable companies do make some decent MicroATX cases in your price point. They aren't fancy with RGB, but they will work with features like USB3 and offer decent quality. Do you have a preference on color, need for a side window, or amount of dvd drive mounts? What country are you in so I know where to look for prices?

Here would be my first pick. It is about 44 euros and offers good build quality, since its from Corsair. It also has USB3, a side windows, a 5.25in drive bay, and is a compact size. Your Matx mobo will work in bigger full atx cases if you want more room, but the amount of features for the compact size of this case makes it appealing. It also has 4.3 out of 5-star rating.

I live in Finland btw. That case looks great. Literally so annoyed right now. Just as I got my new CPU and RAM as well, and it fails because of one cable...

Will it work without that connector? It may be for something minor like audio. PC part picker doesn't have an option for Finland so I chose Germany since its the right currency.
Here is another great option for 35 euro. This one is a great case, but a smaller mini tower, although reviewers say it is roomy inside despite its small size. It has a 5-star average review, an acrylic side window, USB3, Mesh allowing fans to breathe easily, but no 5.25 in bays.

It won't work unfortunately. The cable comes from just under the power button.

Here are my top 3 cases from different sizes and styles. The Corsair SPEC-05 is normal size, the Carbide 88r is smaller (prob the size of your current case), but not much, and the Masterbox Q300l is smallest. All will fit your new mobo and a modest size GPU. Its up to you to consider the pros and cons of each.
Is your current PSU atx?

Yes, it's Corsair VS650. And thanks, you've been a massive help. 👍
