Connecting display via motherboard instead of GPU

Hi,

I just bought a new samsung oled monitor which i'm stoked with but unfortunately my GPU only takes vga connection which i think is compromising the quality of the picture (fuzzy text among other things)

I have tried connecting through HDMI port on my motherboard but it does not detect display. I have gone into the BIOS and the "Initial Display Output" is set for the PCie 1 Slot (enabled) which is where I believe my graphics card is connected (see: http://imgur.com/y941AA3)

Does anyone know how I might go about connecting my monitor via the motherboard?
(hopefully any solution does not require me opening up my chasis as I've never done that before and dont trust myself haha.)

Intel i7-6700 3.4ghz Skylake Boxed CPU
Gigabyte H170M Motherboard
Kingston 240g SSD
Seagate 1TB HDD
Gigabyte 8gb GTX 1070
Thermaltake Black Versa Mid Tower Case Without PSU
16gb Ram

A 1070 graphics card does not have a VGA port. There is nothing that should prevent you from connecting your monitor to your 1070 graphics card.
What is the model number of the new monitor ?

I don't really understand why you can't connect a new monitor to the graphics card. You said the GPU only takes vga, this is not possible, so maybe you're confused with what vga is? You've got a GTX 1070 and a new Samsung monitor, they will both have HDMI and Display Port. So, why can't you use the HDMI cable in the graphics card?

Anyway, to answer your question, no you can't use the motherboard to output the display from the GPU, you have to plug into the card itself.

The GTX1070 does not have a VGA connection. It has DVI-D, HDMI and Displayport. So VGA is definitely not the issue. My guess is that you have a mismatch between the GPU's settings and the monitor's settings. Leave the monitor connected to the GPU. Go into the settings menu on the monitor and make sure everything is set to Auto. Then, try tweaking the monitor's settings. Also, make sure that the GPU is set for the same resolution as the monitor. It's tough to give you more precise details, because you didn't provide the monitor model.

Ok thanks for the help guys.. Problem solved.

I have owned this computer now for over a year and have never been able to fix. Looking at the back again I found that there was just some plugs blocking the hdmi port lmao its so easy to overlook such small things... there is hdmi port and others.. hahaha
