[SOLVED] Connecting Ethernet cables causes dsl and internet lights on my modem to go off

Hi. Here is my strange problem: After reinstalling windows 7 on my old pc, I cannot use my Ethernet cable to connect to internet. I have a dlink dsl2730u modem. When I connect the Ethernet cable to my pc, suddenly the internet and dsl lights on my modem turn off. As soon as I disconnect the Ethernet cable, the dsl light starts blinking again. I was able to connect to internet using Ethernet cable before I reinstalled windows 7. I used the very same cable and connected my laptop to my modem and there was no problem. (so, I concluded that the cable is fine) Also, I downloaded and installed the driver for my network adapter from Realtek website. But still there was no progress. Can anyone help me with this issue please? P. S: sorry for my bad English.

Try installing the LAN driver from your motherboard manufacturer.

I also want to add this: even when Ethernet cable is not connected to my pc (so there is no connection between the pc and router) the internet light on my router turns off as soon as I turn my computer on!
And dsl light goes blinking.
It all goes back to normal when I turn the pc off. I checked the pc and router power wires and they were not tangled.

Run "ipconfig /all" via the Command Prompt and post the results.

Also:

Go back one step.

Ensure that only one network adapter - either wired or wireless - is enabled.

For the most part, physical cable entanglement is not an issue.

Sorry, I thought it would be more readable if I used code style. Wolfshadw has sent the full log.

I only have one network adapter (my pc is old and doesn't have a wifi). I checked it in my control panel.
But as you can see (in Wolfshadw's previous post) when I use ipconfig /all there are two adapters showing up: ethernet adapter and tunnel adapter.

What modem/router port are you using to connect the old pc?

On your old pc try running "ipconfig /flushdns" via the command prompt.

Failing that there are still other things to try:

Regarding "tunnel adapter":

If your ISP does not support IPv6 then no need for the "adapter". Even if supported, disabling IPv6 may stabilize connectivity.

Just as a matter of elimination try Solution 3 first, then Solution 1.

Do not edit the Registry (Solution 2). Registry editing is a last resort and should be undertaken only if you are fully prepared to reinstall the entire OS and all data.
