This is the item I bought from ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/384415805071 and it does not work for dual monitor due to the Monitor using VGA. So I ask the question below:
I can not extend or dual monitor the laptop to the monitor I am using, because it uses VGA, while the desktop I have uses DVI-D single link to HDMI and VGA.
The laptop itself is only HDMI.
I was thinking about buying something like this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/203077333358 to help with my problem, kinda like putting FLEX TAPE to fix a hole in the wall.
But, personally I am unsure how I SHOULD go about this OR WHAT would be the best solution to it.
I currently have a VGA to VGA cable, and a DVI-D single link to HDMI cable.
If I connect using the VGA to VGA cable from the desktop to the montor, it will read as a dual screen, however the second screen will not show up on the laptop. The first screen detected will, but only on the monitor itself. Not the laptop like I would hope.
Adding onto that; if I use the DVI-D single link to HDMI cable I have (the item from ebay, https://www.ebay.com/itm/384415805071 ); it WOULD work but the laptop would not detect AT ALL any screens OR cables connected to it.
What I am thinking is; that I "need," a cable to register from the desktop to monitor, then from it to the laptop; thus producing dual screens.
Any helpful advice on what to buy would be grand.
Also I do not have an amazon account, but if you can find an close replacement I will be sure to pick that up instead.
Edited to make some sense.
