Question Connecting Ribbon Cables

I'm replacing the battery in my Galaxy Tab. But, I cannot re-connect the ribbon cables. The little lever is 'up', but I can't guide the cable in. The plastic on the end of the cable is too bendy. Can I cut it off?

Hold on cutting it (or anything ) off.

Are you able to take some photographs and post those photographs?

Doublecheck that you have the correct battery. And even if so the battery may be the problem.

Take no irreversible actions.

Thank you for replying. I've not taken the battery out, just disconnected it. I was trying unsuccessfully, to get Samsung Kies up and running, and one site said to disconnect the battery if all else fails. I've got 2 of 4 cables reconnected, but I can't get the other two. The plastic at the end of the cables has sort of curled up, and won't slide into to the ZIF. Sorry the images are so big

I wonder if I'm trying to insert the cable in the wrong place. Here (I hope) is a picture. I hope it makes sense. "1" or "2"?
