Connecting wireless router to modem (wirelessly)

Hello,

I have a dilemma where my modem is installed in one bedroom, and I've learned the hard way that wired connections work best playing online.

Sadly the modem is not wired in the room where it's needed, so I've purchased a wireless router. However, the only way that I can connect it beyond my LAN is directly connecting it to the modem. This is pointless, as I can just run 30 foot ethernet cables across the house.

I would like to connect my router (TP-Link WR940N) to my modem (Netgear N600) wirelessly to avoid trip hazards.

Is this possible?

I do not believe so, though i could be wrong. Modems do not send wireless signal, that is what a router is for.

Also, you would get no quality benefit from this as the signal would be traveling through walls to get to your router, it would really only be for aesthetics purposes if you could do this.

At that point there really is no benefit to you then, and may as well just connect to the router wirelessly.

What you could do is look at a good power-line carrier setup, as that would be the next best thing to wired (most of the time).
