Question Connection Problem - Ethernet

Ever since I updated to Windows 1903 I've noticed my download speeds for games is trash putting it mildly. The results from speed tests will show you my connection is actually good and even when it's bad it's still good. Yet, the second I try downloading games now my connection just plummets. I looked at the cable I'm using it's fine.

If you need more info please tell me. I also updated every driver for my motherboard, even AURA prior to posting this. Blizzard Launcher is unlimited same as Steam and yet for the Blizzard Launcher I'm lucky to keep 1.2MB and Steam barely ever crest 5MB. I know they could be faster because I've had both faster before, tried to downgrade it won't let me and I don't care to go through that process unless I absolutely have to. So is there any way I can break this deadlock and actually get some fast installs?

The Asus ROG Game first software can hurt download performance on high speed internet.

Already tagged and uninstalled that. Also took out Razer Central just for extra credit.. Still no improvements.

This can't be a simple network issue because speedtest is actually a file download and file upload it just is never saved. This means it is not likely anything related to cables or ports or drivers.

What happens if you go to say microsoft and download a win10 image. This is also a browser download. If this has issues I would start to suspect some strange disk error.

Steam and other launchers are using different methods of downloading. They many times use other ports and run things like UDP rather than TCP. You can see it in the network tab of the resource monitor.

Key will be to try to find what is different about these type of transfers and the more standard download over https.

You could try a VPN. Buy a month from one of the larger providers like pia or nord. You will likely not get much over a couple hundred megabit but your goal is to see if you can match the speedtest numbers to the game launchers numbers.

You can force many vpn to use ports 443 so it look exactly like https. The reason to try vpn is to see if something is restricting other ports.

Managed to find a decent few VPNs, Nord, Pia (had to wait for payday sadly..) and that didn't help. Googled around for ports for blizzard and steam, opened them all, nothing changed.
