I have a connector from the case of my HP Pavilion H8-1120 PC. Since I got a new motherboard, an ASUS P8B75-M/CSM (as per the request of Calvin7 from this thread), I need to wire up the whole thing to my old case. I think I can connect most of the wires, but there is one connector I can't, well, connect.

From what I have researched, this connector is proprietary. I have looked at the case, and it seems that it feeds into the front panel, possibly the power button. I don't know for sure whether this is connected to the power button, or it's just a feature for the case.

Here's some of the specs on the old motherboard, an IPISB-CU. From the looks of the specs for the motherboard, it's marked as connector P341 (it's right next to the motherboard power connector). Here's also some pictures of the connector:

As you can see, the connector uses only two wires, colored blue and black. They are marked as HP P/N: 64558-001, and HP P/N: 35101AP00-783-G (no doubt the part numbers).

Is there any way to connect this to my new motherboard? In fact, do I even need it for my computer to function? By the way, getting a new tower is not an option; I don't have the money for a new tower.

By googling the part number, I got this:

Seems to a connector for a Wireless LED, (Possibly an LED that shows that WiFi is on / in use.). That would explain the proprietary connector, as normal motherboards do not have a port for such an LED. In that case, you certainly won't need it for the computer to function, just leave it unconnected (Or cut it off if you don't want the extra cables hanging about. You may have a problem in getting a replacement, though, as one costs $416 + $35 shipping at Amazon 😀.).

Thanks for the answer, Cayan4400. I wonder: if they're meant for a Wi-Fi LED thing, then why didn't I see the LED when I ran the other motherboard? I mean, there's no indicator of Wi-Fi, AFAIK, on the case. So what exact Wi-Fi it would power, I'm not certain. :-/

There is a Wi-Fi mini card on the old motherboard. But both of those wires were black, not blue and black.
