Bit of a long story... Posting on behalf of a friend.

Just before Christmas my mates PC started acting up. He began to get random BSOD's (we couldn't find any way to trigger it or repeat the errors, it all appears random) . It kept getting worse and got to the point where he couldn't get into the system it would seize up at windows login and give him a BSOD. Sometimes it also have a BSOD with no text just a blank blue screen. We tried everything could think of to fix it but to no avail so it was left for a few months.

After saving up a he bought a new CPU and MOBO (his gfx card was already new and we tried running with onboard intel gfx to rule it out as the issue). All was fine for a few days but then the exact same thing has started happening again this evening. He got one BSOD and it deteriorated over roughly an hour from the occasional BSOD to even getting BSODs in Windows startup recovery. His PC also refused to post for like 15 minutes and has just now actually started powering up again.

Personally I suspect a driver issue but would not know how to actually diagnose this. As he cant even get into Safe Mode.

Some of the BSOD errors he is getting:
DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

Things I know we have tried:
Running various things in CMD (sfc etc etc.)
He has replaced actual hardware
Reinstalled windows multiple times just for the problems to re appear
Driver repair
Tested his PSU

So you were getting BSODS.
Changed the CPU and MB....

Then did you do a clean Windows install?

How was the PSU tested?

Have you checked the temps and voltages?

He tested the PSU with something similar to this: https://www.reichelt.com/gb/en/powe...1CR4zA7rNVLKrUPvgLLt8GqrwPoaAhlMEALw_wcB&&r=1

No, before he replaced his hardware he tried everything we could think of. We got lots of suggestions and none worked.

He has checked the temps and all is good. He is running a default BIOS so none of the voltages have been messed with. We can no longer get into the PC to check the voltages though.

While trying to boot just now though we have a new error which says :

boot critical file C:\CI.dll is corrupt

Upon googling this most results seem to lead to a virus in the Master Boot Record. However everyone just points you in a different direction most of the time.

Advise motherboard, BIOS ver, PSU and exact type and amount of RAM. Did your firend reinstall windows, or simply attached the same drive with Windows 10 already loaded? Also, if your friend can boot up, go to Device Manager and check if there are any yellow question marks. If possible, uninstall the network adapter drivers (ignore the WAN drivers for now). Does your friend have any other drives attached to his computer; if so remove or unplug everything but the OS drive, mouse and keyboard. What OS drive is he using hdd or ssd.

This is the Friend here, i have unplugged everthig exept the ssd i just bought with windows, i disconnected the hdssd. I bought a new power supply today and the pc still blue screens. Im starting to think that it might be sum sort of virus l, my mate stated above because ALL pc components have been replaced.

Did you replace the RAM? Try booting your computer with just one stick of RAM, and if it fails use the stick you pulled instead. Do you have a bootable antivirus disk/usb? They are made for this purpose. https://www.techsupportall.com/best-bootable-antivirus-rescue-severely-infected-computer/ Have you tried rebuilding your MBR? You also get to a command prompt if you made a Windows 10 rescue disk; or have some one with a working PC with windows 10 make one for you. https://neosmart.net/wiki/fix-mbr/#Fix_the_MBR_in_Windows_10. As asked above, did you do a clean install? https://forums.tomshardware.com/faq/how-to-do-a-clean-installation-of-windows-10.3170366/ without a clean install, you may have simply moved your problem to your reinstalled OS.

Ii replaced the ram about a year ago and has been working fine. Ill try booting with one stick after work. And i dont have an antivirus usb. And have tried rebuilding my mbr. All though i did plug in my hdssd, it might have carried the virus although i dont know enough

Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD

that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD
copy that file to documents
upload the copy from documents to a file sharing web site, and share the link here and I will get someone to convert file into a format I can read
