So something very bad just happened. I'm cinematographer and on Sunday I filmed a video for a client. I put the videos on my second hard drive under the folder Y:\Videos\Church\Baptisms\Footage

(something important to note is that in my Y drive I have many other folders Y:\Movies Y:\Music etc.)

And last night I was editing the videos with Adobe Premier Pro and my computer (win8.1) just crashed, I'm pretty sure it was a blue screen but I can't remember what the error message said. So I took that as a sign that I should go to bed and finish it in the morning. So I wake up, turn my PC on go to my Y drive and open Y:\Videos and there is NOTHING there. I start freaking out and checking other folders on my Y drive and everything else is there Y:\Movies Y:\Music etc. The folder Videos is still there but everything in it is gone! Why!? Why didn't just Y:\Video\Church\Baptisms get deleted? Why did it have to be my whole Videos folder

Something else that you should note is that when I right click on my Y drive it says that I'm taking up 1.2TB of space, however when I open my Y drive and select all its contents it says that its only taking up 972GB's

Absolutely any kind of help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

See if the content appears on the other PC. Otherwise I would take the drive to a company that specializes in data recovery. Also, invest in a backup system.
Here is a stretch, connect the HDD to your PC and go to computer. Right click on the drive and select "Restore Previous Version" . There may or may not be a recovery point in there.

Edit: Also you mentioned that the drive size isn't matching up. Try revealing hidden file and directories to see what else is in there. Otherwise you can use a software named "TreeSize" to see what is on the disk.

Hey, thanks for your input. I tried I system restore but unfortunately I only had a save from my main drive so it didn't help with my Y drive. I told windows to show me hidden folders but that also gave no results. I then downloaded TreeSize and looked at my Y drive. TreeSize says I'm using 992GB, which is interesting because windows says im using 1.22TB, and when I select all the contents of my Y drive and so properties it says its 970GB
