I have a Gigabyte H81M-H motherboard rev2.0 and if I insert a ram stick into the first slot closest to the cpu socket with nothing in the second slot, it will boot up and run fine. However, since I have 2 ram sticks, if I put one in the second slot, I will get continuous beeps. Please help.

I have tried switching the ram sticks. They both work individually but my pc will only boot up on the slot closest to my cpu. If there is anything in the second slot, I get continuous beeps and my pc will not boot up.

I have G.skill ripjaws series F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL and i think its dual channel im not sure

So i need a new motherboard?

If you have tried RAM stick #1 in slot #1 and the result is it works, but moving RAM stick #1 into slot #2 it fails, then you tried RAM stick #2 in slot #1 and is works, but moving RAM stick #2 to slot #2 fails, then your mobo is bad.

I believe that is what you said.

yeah thats what i said :[

Hi, I have experienced similar problem.
I have my RAM in slots 1/3, however, when I put them in 2/4, my computer starts beeping when I turn it on and it just won't start.
That's weird, isn't it? Maybe malfunctioning slots?

My MB: gigabyte ma78lmt us2h
RAM: 2x Patriot Signature Line DDR3 4GB 1333MHz CL9 dual channel

It is usually one of 4 problems:
1) Bent pins in the slot for the RAM
2) Physical damage to the slot (i.e. broken plastic)
3) Cold soldering joins
4) Bad chips on the mobo

The only things that can be repaired is #1 or #3, and they require precise action to resolve - and in my experience, 95% of the people who try to fix either problem end up doing more damage to the mobo resulting in making it worthless....

how can i tell if the pins for ram have been bent? is there like a chart or something

Hi!
I know that this thread is ancient. However, should anyone need help:
I was facing the same problem yesterday (GA-H81M-S/ Corsair Vengeance 4GB*2/Pentium G3240). The second DIMM slot just wouldn't work (continuous beeps). So I took it to the Gigabyte service center, and got an unexpected solution. 3-4 processor socket pins were bent. He fixed that and the slot was fully functional.
So check for bent socket pins people. That's what fixed my issue.
