I have one computer. My boyfriend likes to play video games on my computer which makes it so that I can not use it. I have my computer hooked up to my TV through an HDMI cord and I have an Xbox controller. I was wondering how I could make my mouse and keyboard separate from my Xbox controller. Then he could play video games on the TV with the controller while I played a game or did homework on the monitor with the mouse and keyboard. Any ideas?

Solution
First of all, you'd need an "XBOX to PC" controller, you can't just use a wired XBOX controller due to incompatibility. Second of all, to my understanding this is impossible as both mouse and keyboard along with the XBOX controller are connected to the same motherboard so there would in fact be no way of splitting this up to use them both separately, I'd suggest getting a cheap PC/Laptop to do your work on

It may be possible but I think it may end up being more hassle than it's worth. Maybe set up controller input in the game your boyfriend is playing and then use the multi monitor functionality to have your keyboard and mouse on the primary monitor? (You'll need the borderless mode and not full screen in the game)
