Controller not working

I have a wired xbox 360 controller and a ps3 wired controller. Both of them have worked fine in the past, there have been no changes to my pc, and now the controllers only work for a few mins, then the usb makes the sound that something disconnected, and the controllers stop. This happens on all games, I am plugged into the back usb, tried all ports. I have done all the troubleshooting in the link below:

motherboard issues with the usb ports or so it seems, sounds like hardware issue

It's a good possibility that you either have a short in the cables, but I doubt they would both go at the same time. So it's more than likely your port that had gone. Try and be a little more delicate after you get it fixed when plugging it in and taking it out.
