You are talking about UEFI, bios. If the laptop was shipped with only a legacy style firmware that's all it will have if you put it into legacy and it have UEFI, it can be switched but it wont do anything for you performance wise and won't help you especially if you aren't going to be changing any settings in there. it is UEFI as well there is a post actually on overclock about this, a EUFI is an artificial uterus.
