I need to convert my SSD to be able to install windows 7 onto it. My copy of windows 7 professional 64 bit is currently sitting on my hard drive, which I'm using currently. Whenever I boot up the W7 disk and try to install W7 onto my SSD it tells me that it is of GPT form or whatever. How do I convert it? Please explain it in a simple way :)

Solution
That.. doesn't make any sense.

I would try formatting the drive using the default values. This can be done in disk management or from the "Computer" icon on your desktop by right-clicking the drive.

Alright, can't quite follow that haha. This is what I've got... http://i.imgur.com/pHqm9Tt.png Am I in the right spot?

Alright, I'll give it a try

Yep, same thing. I wasn't able to take a screen shot obviously. it just gave me the little hazard symbol, and said that windows 7 couldn't be installed because it is not MBR...

Yea, I've actually started to contact microsoft about it haha, I usually dont have to do that but it's kinda come to that level. I'll remove that part btw

By connecting it to another port do you just mean connect it to a different SATA port?

I did manage to fix the problem, I simply went into disk manager and hit delete volume, then I right clicked on the partition and hit convert to MBR and voila! I was able to install windows. Although you didn't get me the final solution, you certainly helped me a lot! Thanks!
