Convret recovered files from a raw format to their original format

I was able to seemingly recover some files from a bad hard drive. These files are in a raw format and I need to know if they can somehow be converted to their original format. They have their original file extensions but are not recognized due to the raw recovery method.
Can files recovered this way be converted back to their original format or is this method of recovery useless?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Search "raw to ntfs fat32"

There are utilities to convert raw partitions. It is unclear from your post where the recovered files now reside or whether you still have the drive from where they were stored.

You may not be able to convert the files, the reason they show up in that format is because the recovery software could not properly put the files back together. They have the same names, but the file format behind them is probably lost.

The files were recovered from a hdd ntfs from a notebook computer running XP sp2. The files currently exist on my desktop computer, XP sp3 ntfs.
The hdd had 2 partitions, XP on the main partition and a smaller partition for saved files.
The drive was removed from the notebook and attached to my desktop as an external hdd.
The smaller partition on the drive was safe and I was able to copy all the files intact.
The main partition was trashed, could not boot and was very difficult to read anything on the main partition even as an external drive. Was only able to recover some files in raw. The drive degraded to the point where it would not run anymore.
Anyway, all the recovered files are on my desktop computer.
