I recently build my first computer, and i decided to go with the AMD FM2+ A10-7850 (Kaveri) with the Asus A88X-Plus motherboard. However, the CPU cooler that i chose does not fit the brackets even though the website says it does.

When installing it, i used the highest supplied standoffs yet when screwing it down non of the screws touched the holes, meaning i had to apply pressure to put them in, this required pressure cannot be good the cpu

Any ideas as to why, maybe i need to purchase separate standoffs or bracket

The bracket does have a pin that goes in a hole in the heat sink? Are you sure you have the bracket positioned correctly in the heatsink? I used the 212 on numerous builds, and I still sometimes have to really look at it and test fit the bracket before I get it right.

The screws do have springs on them, but it should not be a struggle to mount it. Which makes me think you don't have the bracket positioned correctly.

I found that fitting the bracket into the screw holes first(without the heatsink) helped find the best position for the bracket. I also had my son screw it in while I held the heatsink and bracket in place. There are adjustments on the end(where the screws are) to make the bracket fit different size boards.

You don't use either the stock AMD retention brackets or the stock AMD backplate. Go on YouTube and search for a AMD Hyper 212 EVO install before you ruin your motherboard.

Thanks for having faith in me. Of course i was using the backplate provided by collermaster. I'm not that retarded. However. I still find it that the screw do not align, and yes they do have springs, with the plate screw hole and standoffs. Not to mention the pressure required to screw it in. I'm probably going to contact the company I bought it off and see what they have to say. Otherwise. There is no reason to be so rude
