Cooler Master Jetflo Fans Would Destroy a H100i?

Hello,

I am snooping in the web lately and I became interested in water cooling.

I heard how great H100i are and because I have a lot of CM Jetflo 120mm fans in my case that gave me a thought.

I was thinking if I replace the stock H100i (if I am buying one) 120mm fans with Jetflos - would it improve cooling?

But I also heard that attaching these Jetflo's fans to Corsair H100i it will destroy both because their power requirements are not compatible apparently.

But what if I just use the Fan connector/s on a motherboard/PSU (and run at full RPM), that wouldn't destroy the H100i, would it?

Would the H100i even work if nothing is attached to its fan controller?

This seems like a silly question but I just wanted to make sure.

At first glance, I don't see why you couldn't just plug the fans directly into the motherboard. I own the first generation H100 (not the i series) and I plugged mine into a bit fenix fan controller. If I am not mistaken, the only thing the fan headers on the H100 pump housings do is enable PWM or THRM control of the fan speeds which isn't a big deal in the big scheme of things. I'd say go for it. The H100 series coolers are absolutely amazing for an introduction into water cooling and the closed loop method means there is no upkeep to start. Just make sure to do a leak test (run the pump only and surround it with paper or paper towels. Run it like this for a MINIMUM of 24 hours before putting any of your components under the gun).

I am not doing any watercooling any time soon (my case does not support it) but I am glad that I could just use the motherboard headers or PSU molex. I always want to run my fans at full speed.

But if I am going to watercool my FX-8350 (in the future) would a H100i and a Cooler Master HAF 912 Case would suffice? Is there better and/or slimmer watercoolers/cases out there?

An H100i and HAF912 is a good combination. The HAF912 is a bit small for my tastes but if you already have it there is no reason to alter your choice now. It is a good case and has everything you need. I paged through some reviews on newegg.com and found mention that the HAF912 will not support a radiator with fans on both sides (push/pull configuration) which isn't a big deal and shouldn't steer you from it. The FX-8350 is a toasty little processor and you should definitely have it under a great air cooler or adequate water cooler.

Ah ok. I only wish for fans on one side, probably having the fans pushing the air upwards (into the radiator so that the air would come out to the top). If that is not possible then can I just rest the radiator on a table nearby or on the floor? XD

Well 4Ryan6 brings a good point to the table, the best fans for a water cooling radiator are those that offer high static pressure. The Corsair SP120 fans are designed specifically for keeping a positive static pressure between the fan and radiator fins. However you already own the Jetflo fans if I understand correctly. I don't know which fans are included with the H100i (standard 120mm or the static pressure fans). If the SP fans are included I'd keep em. If they are just the standard 120mm fans from Corsair your Jetflo's might be better. As for leaving that radiator on a floor or table...... well..... no.... just.... no.

Ah then I heard about the Antec 1100 (or 'Eleven-Hundred'). Would this be fine for watercooling or cooling in general?

The 1100 is a good case too. Its a different type/styling of case but is another good choice.
