Hey guys,
Im not sure if i should post here or in the overclocking sections so im sorry if its in the wrong place.

So i bought a cm seidon 240p with blue led jetfloe fans because it was the only locally available aio in where i live that comes with a ryzen upgrade kit. I could ship something from amazon like a h100i or a h110 but that would cost me almost double the price. Bottom line, is it a good aio and will give me a good offset from the wraith spire ? Or i shouls really sell it as used and put the money into something else.
Ryzen 1600
B350 rog strix
Vengeance 16gb 3000mhz led
Gtx 1060 3gb windforce
Wd 1tb blue
Kingston uv400 120gb ssd
Nzxt s340 (non elite)
Seasonic s12ii

We all do it at one point or another , I've bought stuff in the past only to see something better for less 48 hours later.

I'm more patient nowadays , keep getting tempted by a gtx 1080 gpu upgrade & then keep thinking maybe the prices may drop a bit lower yet & will now end up waiting for the newer cards to drop.

That said I'm not in the same position as you where I'm building a completely new system from scratch.
The excitement tends to take over from common sense & patience when you're doing that ;-)
I got it for about 81 dollars so it was pretty cheap i guess. Do you guys know by any chance if the seidon upgrade kit would fit the nepton water block ? Cause in that case i could try to grab the nepton for a slightly higher cost.

I would drop it for the peformance and 80 dollars and get this :

looks way better and cools 20% BETTER than a regular h7, or get this cryorig r1.

The thing is i was dumb enough that i actually bought it while waiting for the cpu, gpu, mobo, ram to arrive from amazon. So i already own it now lol. If im to sell it now it will be labled as "used as new" despite the fact that i never used it and the price will go down.
Should i just stick to what i have ?

I think the seidon is an 'ok' 240mm aio.
I just don't see a massive need for it personally.
Its well made , nice looking g & very very quiet for an aio.
The pump lets it down , because bits geared for quietness its got a very low flow rate for a 240mm rad (essentially a 120mm rad would perform about the same)

That said if you own it , keep it.
Mediocre performing 240mm aio or not it's still absolutely more than enough for a ryzen 1600, I certainly wouldn't sell it & lose money on it if you already own it.

The main issue I have isn't with the seidon itself , its with the fact you picked an s340 so you have to have that rad mounted as a front intake now which impacts internal case & GPU temps

If I was to use an aio setup (which is unlikely) I'd pick a case with a 240mm top mount fitting so I could fit it as an exhaust (which to me is really the sole benefit of water cooling over air - getting CPU heat out of the case as directly as possible)

You are absolutly right there. I also had to buy the case locally and i didnt have a varity of options and the s340 seemed to be friendly to my pocket. I was looking at the P400s tg and the HEC cougar but when i checked how much they will cost to ship it turned out ill be paying more than double the price of the case itself. I bought a CoolerMaster JetFloe 120mm fan to replace the top or rear fan that came included with the s340 but yea ill have to mount the rad as a front intake.
Ill have 2 front intakes from the aio and 2 exhaust 1 at the top and a rear.
Also hot air tends to go up so the hot air that will leave the rad (in a push or pull configuration) will go up to the exhaust fan. Maybe i wont be affected much at the end of the day but i totally agree with you

^ that's all you can do really mate .
I'm sure temps etc will be fine just not as good as they could have been (on the GPU at least)

I'm a bit puzzles why you bought another fan ??
The s340 comes with 2 already & with that aio you don't have any fan mounts spare??

You surely now have an extra fan you can't use ??

If it was about aesthetics/LED's then you could have just dropped the nzxt case fans on the seidon (they would manage fine) & used the led seidon fans as top/rear exhaust.

Also bearing in mind that all b350 boards have rgb 5050 headers so you could honestly just grabbed a couple if cheap led strips for lighting.

Not trying to put a damper on things , your system will be fine as is , just you could have spent a little less money & a also got a but more optimal cooling for it.

I also agree with matt, i might get hit with a degree or two higher.
The reason i bought an extra fan cause it had blue LED and i wanted to give it a blue/white theme inside the case while having dark parts.
But i dont think the included nzxt fans would perform on par with the aio jetfloe fans, will they ?
And yea im gonna get an aura sync magnetic rgb led strip later when i get some more money.
