Cooling: Extra support for heavy air coolers

Has anyone built, or seen a decent commercial version of, a "brace" to take some of the weight of very heavy air coolers off the motherboard? Used a string to tie part of the cooler to the top plate?

Is there any use to this, or are motherboards "strong enough" for one-kilo cooling solutions?

Most of the 3rd party air cooler out there use a plate on the backside of the boards to shift the weight from a small area of the board to the much larger area, also due to the why in which many of them are mounted to the board any stress on the board is shifted away so that another mountings are not needed. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

However when shipping I have used some ducktape to brace the cooler and the video card when shipping.
